I read today in the Columbus Dispatch that Senator Olympia Snowe has decided to break with her party, yet again, and vote for the Baucas health care reform bill. According to the article Senator Snowe says:
She told her colleagues: “When history calls, history calls,” even though she had some criticism of the bill.
Get real! Who does this “republican” think that she is? It gets very old seeing the mainstream media pontificate as to what her vote will be on all of these key issues. We already know the answer…she will send her party packing.
So this brings me to the question of whether or not she is truly a republican. It seems she cannot be counted on in her own party caucus. It also appears that she is always all-too-eager to go along with the proposals of the democratic party when they need her vote.
Must you agree with all of the party stances to be considered a republican? I don’t think so. But when you cannot be counted upon to lend support to your side and when your views are consistently inconsistent with your the vast majority of your party…it leads me to believe that she is another Senator Jeffords. So my advice to republicans is to send her to the other side. Stop caucusing with her. Its a joke.
