A New Texting Ban

According to the Dispatch, Cleveland is set to begin enforcement of a texting while driving ban.  Wonder what penalties you will incur should you choose to violate the new law in Cleveland?

  • First Offense = $100
  • Second Offense = $250
  • Third Offense = $500

I say, good for Cleveland.  Will it cut out the texting problem all together?  No.  But it will make people think before they send that unnecessary message.

Consequently, a great program out there that can be used to send voice to text messages is Vlingo.

Great post. More communities need to follow Cleveland’s example on this texting ban — only the fines should be five times those of Cleveland.

p.s. That sure is an interesting link.

I disagree with this policy. With my old phone I could text without ever looking at the phone. I think we need to confront the real dangers of driving such as driving while female.
