Before the election, I can’t tell you how many times I heard someone say that something could happen to Obama should he win the election to which I always responded that this was no reason to not support a candidate. People that run for public office should have our admiration, even if we disagree with their political points of view. I think it takes a special kind of person to run for office.
When I read this article about race threats, I was again disgusted. From the article:
From California to Maine, police have documented a range of alleged crimes, from vandalism and vague threats to at least one physical attack. Insults and taunts have been delivered by adults, college students and second-graders.
There have been “hundreds” of incidents since the election, many more than usual, said Mark Potok, director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate crimes.
Americans of all political parties, thoughts, and points of view should be proud that we have elected an African-American to our highest office. It isn’t who I voted for. I continue to believe it was the wrong outcome for our country, but I wish him luck and success. I’d like to think that all Americans could agree on that.
