Is Obama Flip Flopping On Iraq?
July 3, 2008
I’m sure that most of you saw it today all over the news. Obama stated that he would further refine his Iraq policy after a trip he has planned there later this summer. During the primary he repeatedly stated that troops would be gone within 16 months. Today he states it is possible the 16-month time line could slip if the pace of
withdrawal needs to be slowed some months to ensure troop safety.
I think he does need to be responsible about pulling out if he should be elected, but I think we can add this to the ever-growing lists of flip flops he is committing. Of course, being the media darling, you don’t often hear about them, do you?

As I keep telling people, Obama is politics as usual. Plus, without his mantra of Change (which, would be nice if he meant it) he has nothing.
On Monday I am actually planning on exploring this very issue in my blog

The “media darling”? are you kidding me? The only reason Hillary and Obama were the Democratic candidates is because the right-wing controlled media propelled them to that status from the beginning. Do you actually think we still have choices in this country? In the Iowa primary, John Edwards finished second. Did the media announce Obama and Edwards win in Iowa! No. The media only stated that Obama won, Hillary didn’t. No mention was made of Edwards’ second-place finish. Why? Edwards, who truly does represent change, would have been unwavering in all of his views. He would have waltzed into the White House and the right knew it. After the economic, political, and moral devastation brought to this country with eight years of self-serving Republicans in control, the media owners knew they would have to promote the most divisive Democratic candidates possible: a woman; and a black man. I wish that this country were mature enough for its citizenry to see beyond gender and race, but it isn’t and Hurricane Katrina made it very clear how much further we have yet to evolve.
I think it is time for Edwards to give it up already. How many times has he given it a shot? He could never raise the money to play ball with the real candidates on either side.
I’d say look at the polls at this point, Obama is in the lead.
Linda, are you kidding me, “because the right-wing controlled media propelled them to that status from the beginning.”
I dont even know where to start with that.
I do believe the media hurt John Edwards, but not the “right controlled” but the “left controlled” that spent so much time focusing on the “historic firsts” of what Obama or Clinton would mean that they did not vet either candidate, especially not Obama who was given quite a few “skates” during the primary process.
Edwards could not compete aganst the media focus on the two and while he was my first choice, the reality is once Elizabeth’s cancer came back it was going to be hard for him to continue, so if you take that combined with the media blitz on Clinton/Obama? Edwards did not have the ability to compete or raise the needed funds.
Obama’s recent change on Iraq and the issues related to him stating that the mental health of a woman should not be a detemination in an abortion are the two latest incidents that are making many question if he knows his position on anything and if so? Exactly which one is the one we should believe.
LisaRenee - I don’t have any idea anymore. He seems to say whatever he thinks a particular audience wants to hear. The problem is that the media doesn’t cover or they make excuses for him having to “change his position.”
I think what makes this worse for him is he spent so much time focusing on he was going to be a different kind of a candidate and was going to run a different kind of a campaign. Those who believed he would be different are understandably disappointed. He’s really no different, he’s telling people what they want to hear so he’ll be elected. Which then raises the question as to which position does he really support.
