Would Obama Write Off Ohio?
June 1, 2008
Governor Bill Richardson was recently quoted as saying:
“If we win these three states [New Mexico, Nevada, and Colorado], plus the traditional Democratic base, (Obama) is president,” New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson told Washington-based media group Politico last week. “If John Kerry had won these three states and lost Ohio as he did, he would’ve been president.”
That would total 19 electoral votes while Ohio has only 20.
It seems like that could be a very risky strategy on Obama’s part, don’t you think? It would also be a slap in the fact to Ohio voters who have come accustomed to playing a larger role in the selection of the President of the United States.
Perhaps Richardson is realizing what most Clinton supporters have been saying…Obama lost many of the states that he would need to win to win the general election.

So, they are going to take 19 votes from three states, which require more effort, more work, and more money instead of a state which was roughly 49,51 last election? That is so illogical, but, what could expect from Obama’s campaign.

This is laughable. Obama’s campaign has been perhaps the most well run and succesful operation in decades in American Politics. Taking some comment from a surrogate and turning it into some statement of strategy is simply ignorant.
Joe - Reread the title of the post. It didn’t state that this was his plan. I assume he is more intelligent than that. Obama bloggers should be careful not to constantly insult the people that they need to help elect him president.
Robert - I wouldn’t think they would be that stupid, but who knows. Thanks for the comment!
The are including Iowa in that count I would guess that gives Obama the win without Ohio.
I hope that they are not that stupid, yet, as I pointed out in my obama’s adviser post, they keep dropping the ball…
Thanks

They include Nevada I doubt they will get that one
the others maybe I would pick someone for Veep
that could carry a Red State and who is also a Clinton
backer for balance like Sen Evan Bayh of IN
They say that Evan Bayh would be a good choice. They also talk about Strickland. I think that they have to bring Clinton into this somehow. If they lose the Clinton voters, myself included, they will lose in a landslide.
