Memo to Attorney General Dann: Time To Resign!

April 27, 2008

The Columbus Dispatch has chronicled the saga of Attorney General Mark Dann. It now includes all of the elements of a juicy novel including sexual harassment, drinking, a loose working environment, and a lack of professionalism that runs abound in his office.

According to the Dispatch:

Interviews with current and former employees of Dann’s, as well as hundreds of e-mail messages released last week and the sexual-harassment complaints, point to a casual work environment that often extends into alcohol-lubricated evenings in which work and personal lives blur.

He is turning out to be a real embarrassment to the state of Ohio and should really consider resigning!  Unethical behavior is running rampant under his administration of that office.

I cant beieve how Ohio Democrats in charge have allowed this story to sit around and build. It keeps getting worse and wont go away.

And there is a way to end all the controversy, force him to resign.

I love this post. The truth is always so much fun. More times than I care to count, people say that behavior, while off work, doesn’t affect the person’s job. “(Insert employer name) can’t tell me what to do when I get off work. That’s my life, not theirs.” Yes, it is your own personal life, however, If someone is in a leadership position, it becomes extremely critical to maintain proper decorum both inside and outside the workplace. This can range from getting a DUI to showing up at the grocery store in your flip-flops and no shirt (I just got a visual). I address this issue in my management book, Wingtips with Spurs: Cowboy Wisdom for Today’s Business Leaders. People look up to a leader, so why disappoint them? Don’t get me wrong. I have nothing against a cold beer. I just tend to drink mine while I’m on the ranch and not at the local bar. Partying and socializing in general with those you work with is dancing on a landmine. I am not talking about company events or playing cards with your peers. The danger zone is drinking, dancing, etc. with people who report to you. If you, as a manager, have someone in a leadership position who is socializing after hours with his or her workers, give your leader one chance to stop. If he or she refuses, it’s time to terminate that person. If you find he or she is engaged sexually with a worker, you should terminate the leader immediately. It’s time to sell that bull. Michael L. Michael -

Thanks for the comment! I will check out your blog very soon. I agree with you. I always find it strange to hear about companies where the employees party with each other and with the boss.
