Seat the Forida Delegates

March 10, 2008

In my humble opinion, the primary elections in Michigan and Florida were very different.

In Michigan, the only major candidate of the democratic party was Hillary Clinton. It would not be fair in any sense of the word to seat those delegates.

However, in Florida, none of the major candidates campaigned in the state. Hillary Clinton won that contest without campaigning and had just as much of a chance to win as the other candidates. I do believe that those delegates should be seated.  Isn’t that fair?

What Happens if You Get Sick?

March 10, 2008

According to Dave Harding at Progress Ohio, a bill known as the Ohio Healthy Families Act (HFA) is pending approval in the Ohio General Assembly. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2.2 million Ohio workers are unable to take a sick day if it is needed.

I find this unbelievable. Wouldn’t it be common sense to know that an employee that comes to work is not only less productive, but risks spreading her/his illness to colleagues thus creating an even more productive work place? What happens if one of these workers has a medical appointment?

All people with jobs in this country deserve to be treated with a certain level of decency and respect.
